District 8 Foundation Ambassador Report
Kudos from Zonta International to all District 8 Zontians! Thanks to your generosity, in 2017 we received congratulations for both the Spring District Workshop fundraising effort (over $2500 in one day!); and the District Conference in Yakima in September ($6500!). Zonta International was impressed and very appreciative of the funds raised thus far for projects and programs in the 2016-2018 biennium.
District workshop kudos were….an amazing amount of money for a one-day event – well done! And, we also received congratulations on a successful district conference this fall from the Foundation team, who heard many good things from President Sonja Honig Schough. She said she had not previously seen so many personal donations at a district conference; and, she shared the success of the photo-op with her (our Zonta International President) “funraiser”as well! If you were unable to attend the conference in beautiful Yakima, you missed a special opportunity to meet President Sonja.
Further, congratulations are in order to all District 8 Zonta clubs! We have had 100% club contribution participation to Zonta International Projects/Programs each year of the current and last biennium.
While participation is very important, overall, giving biennium to date is down, both at the International and District levels. So…

All Zonta members worldwide recently received an email informing us of the importance of the 2017 EVERY MEMBER EVERY NOVEMBER Campaign. This year, Zonta is encouraging donations in support of the International Service Fund. In the more than 90 years since the first international service project was funded, Zonta International has contributed nearly $15.5 million to projects benefiting women in 37 countries!
In 2016-2018, the Liberia Fistula Project and Let Us Learn Madagascar are two major programs in which our support will empower and secure an equal future for women and girls benefiting from these important projects.
As the Zonta International Foundation message sent to each of us on October 30th stated, “all Zontians are invited to commit our personal support for the international service projects by making an individual gift directly to the Foundation in the month of November. Our donation will improve the health, education and socio-economic status of the most vulnerable women and girls.”
A DONATE NOW link is available in the recent ZI email message to make individual contributions.
