Microplastics and Health: Amplifying Awareness with Teena Robinson-Halbig

About the Program: 7pm-9pm PST

Teena Halbig will provide a brief overview and introduction to Microplastics and Nanoplastics: how Plastic particles (MNP) showing visual routes into the human body and give some health effects. A vast amount of research is ongoing.  Each of us is consuming MNP from contaminated food and drinking water – ingesting around 50,000 particles each year. There will be an emphasis about how to protect oneself and lower the amount of MNP exposures.

Co-Founder of Floyds Fork Environmental Association in 1991, then she served as League of Women Voters of Louisville President and next as State President. Medical Technologist board certification by American Society of Clinical Pathologists; Clinical Laboratory Scientist by National Certification Agency (NCA); Jewish Hospital Microbiologist, then Virology Supervisor post CDC trainings. Has been a leader in teaching about the dangers of PFAs
U of L Bachelor of Science and Certificate in Medical Technology;
MT(ASCP) = Medical Technologist board certification by American Society of Clinical Pathologists;
Clinical Laboratory Scientist by National Certification Agency (NCA);
Jewish Hospital Microbiologist, then Virology Supervisor post CDC trainings
U of L Researcher in Dept. of Pediatrics Cytogenetics; Hematology/Oncology, BMT (retired) and
PFAS/Forever Chemicals Research since pre-Covid (contract UofL); and Microplastics
