Celebrating Earth Day – Hybrid Event (In-Person and Online) by: Zonta Club of South Puget Sound
ZONTA OF SOUTH PUGET SOUND WELCOMES EARTH DAY AND WOMEN IN CONSERVATION
We welcome Sarah Moorehead, Executive Director and Nora Carman-White, Communications and Education Director from the Thurston Conservation District who will be sharing about Women in Conservation.

About our Guests:
Sarah Moorehead
over 5 years. With a background in communications, she enjoys engaging community, facilitating conflict
resolution, developing strategic messaging campaigns, and legislative relations. Sarah graduated with a BA in
Natural Resources and Education from The Evergreen State College. In addition, she is currently a Director on
the Washington Association of District Employees Board and has served on several non-profit boards,
including local land trusts, and youth camps. One of Sarah’s primary passions is engaging and mentoring
women of all ages in careers in conservation – creating a workplace that is supportive and empowering to
help women achieve their personal and professional goals.
Nora Carman-White
Nora serves as Thuston Conservation District’s Communications and Education Director. She grew up in
Thurston County, and working at Thurston CD has been a wonderful opportunity to blend a personal history
and interest in local agriculture and food production with a professional background in social services and
volunteer coordination. Nora holds a BA from Warren Wilson College in Asheville, NC and an MA from
University of Washington Tacoma in Interdisciplinary Studies with an emphasis on Community Food Studies.
Nora’s professional and academic experience in community-based education, social service assistance,
partner collaboration, and communications combines with her 20 years of farming experience. Nora’s family
raises a dual-purpose sheep flock for fiber and meat as well as poultry and hay – they farm in Tenino.
